Wrapping Up 2025 with Ethics, Excellence and Energy!
We ended the year’s Mandatory Medical Ethics (MME) series with a bang — and a touch of cinematic flair!
Our final webinar, “The Physician’s Role as an Examiner: Balancing Ethics and Professionalism,” brought together our Family Medicine community for an engaging afternoon of learning, reflection and rich discussion.
To bring ethical dilemmas to life, our dedicated faculty produced cinematic-quality videos, taking on the roles of physicians and patients to portray the real-world challenges Family Physicians face in their daily practice. The authenticity and realism of these portrayals made ethics learning come alive.
The session began with Dr James Cheong addressing common questions surrounding the ethical challenges of doctors serving as examiners, followed by Dr Suraj Kumar sharing guiding principles:
– Act with due diligence
– Act in good faith
– Manage conflicts of interest
– Aspire to the ‘prudent doctor’ standard
Two case-based discussions anchored the afternoon’s learning:
1. Case 1: The Doctor as a Medical Certificate Issuer — Dr Felicia Clara Tan & Dr Jeremy Koh
2. Case 2: Assessing Fitness to Drive: The Doctor’s Role — Dr Jonathan Chong & Dr Ng Xin Rong
A lively panel discussion followed, featuring Dr T Thirumoorthy, Dr Swah Teck Sin, Dr Suraj Kumar and Dr Eng Soo Kiang, where participants exchanged reflections and shared practical insights on navigating complex ethical situations.
As we close the year, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all faculty and participants for making every MME session meaningful. Together, we continue to learn, reflect and grow — strengthening our shared commitment to serve our patients with integrity and professionalism.
We look forward to seeing everyone again for our MME sessions in 2026 — let’s continue the journey together!
