The academic course is designed for working doctors wishing to pursue further higher training in FM after their Graduate Diploma in FM (GDFM). The teaching sessions are held weekly to fortnightly on Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons and are conducted either in person or on online platforms. Teaching sessions comprise of lectures, tutorials, workshops, clinical bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mock consultation training. Certain specialised training sessions may be conducted on weekdays and will be forecasted in advance to the trainees.

To graduate, the candidate must pass both Part 1 and 2 of the MMed(FM) examinations.

Training	Have passed the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM) not more than 5 years on the 1st Day of the Calendar Year of the start of the Programme* OR Have attained MRCGP(UK)#
Work Experience	At least four years of experience from the date of graduation (as reflected on the medical degree) to the 1st Day of the Calendar Year of the start of the Programme**. Of the 4 years of post-graduate experience at least one year must be in a Family Medicine setting. Make up attachments may be required to make up for the shortfall in this experience.
Clinical Work during Training	The trainee will be required to sign an undertaking that he/she is in current practice of 24 clinical hours per week, of which 8 hours must be in an approved ambulatory Family Medicine setting.
Clinical Inspection & Interview	This will be conducted to assess the suitability of the practice and candidate for MMed (FM) training.

* Example, for the intake of 2027 to 2028, the date on the applicant’s GDFM certificate must be no earlier than 1st Jan 2022 (no more than 5 years prior to 1st Jan 2027).
** Example, for the intake of 2027 to 2028, the date on the applicant’s medical degree must be no later than 1st Jan 2023 (at least 4 years prior to 1st Jan 2027).
# The MMed(FM) 2027-2028 intake will be the last intake for which applicants with MRCGP(UK) will be accepted. Future applicants with MRCGP(UK) will need to undertake the new upcoming 1-year Accelerated GDFM prior to admission to the MMed(FM) College Programme.

To enhance the learning efficiency of the programme and to maximise teaching quality, the course will have a limited capacity each year. There will continue to be a selection process with pre-entry screening and interview, including the submission of clinical case write-ups, submission of proposed audit project, written paper and clinical station. This will be a deciding factor and the Board’s decision is final.

• Only applicants with a regular employment (not including locum doctors) will be accepted.
• Only candidates who have already completed and passed the GDFM examination will be eligible to sign up for the MMed(FM) 2027-2028 intake.

College Membership Subsidy

The student must remain as a member of CFPS throughout the duration of his/her course (i.e. November 2028 for the MMed(FM) 2027-28 intake) to enjoy the discounted course fee.
