On 26 July 2025, the College of Family Physicians Singapore (CFPS) held its Induction Ceremony at the Shaw Foundation Alumni House. It was a warm and meaningful gathering — a celebration of new beginnings, a reaffirmation of purpose, and a reminder of why we do what we do.

Dr Wong Tien Hua, President of CFPS, opened the ceremony by sharing the encouraging achievements of our Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM) Programme, which saw an exceptionally high pass rate this year. With deep gratitude, he thanked the GDFM team and our many dedicated tutors, whose passion and perseverance continue to shape the next generation of Family Physicians. He also spoke of the many Fellows-to-be who are stepping forward to lead and inspire — a sign of growing strength in our community. In his words, CFPS remains steadfast in its mission to nurture, grow, and advance Family Medicine across Singapore.

Our Guest-of-Honour, Associate Professor Clement Tan, Director of the Division of Graduate Medical Studies and Co-Chairman of the Joint Committee of Family Medicine, spoke with heartfelt conviction about the evolving role of Family Physicians — not just as frontline clinicians, but as quiet revolutionaries shaping health from its very roots. He reminded us that choosing Family Medicine is “a good path, not a default path” — a deliberate, courageous choice to serve where it matters most. And with gentle wisdom, he left us with a stirring call: “Never lose the GP touch.”

Censor-in-Chief, Dr Darren Seah brought us back to the heart of our profession by reflecting on the CFPS motto: Cum Scientia Caritas — With Knowledge and Love. In a fast-changing world filled with digital tools and an ever-expanding sea of medical knowledge, he reminded us not to lose sight of what truly matters — to practice with skill, yes, but also with love. To listen, to care, to see the person behind the symptoms. That is the heart of Family Medicine.

To all our new trainees in the GDFM, MMed(FM), and FCFP(S) Programmes — CFPS extends our warmest welcome. May this journey ahead be one of deep learning, personal growth, and enduring purpose. May you never stop seeking knowledge, and may you always carry love in your practice.
