The College of Family Physicians Singapore joins the international Family Medicine community in remembering Prof John Murtagh AO, a legend and visionary Family Physician.

Prof Murtagh’s contributions to Family Medicine were immense — from shaping the understanding of General Practice, to advancing education and providing practical guidance that has benefitted generations of doctors worldwide. His textbook remains widely used in our teaching and is a key recommended text for Family Medicine trainees in Singapore.

He will always be remembered as an outstanding educator, a generous mentor, and a tireless advocate for Family Medicine. His humility and dedication continue to inspire us in our calling as family doctors.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Prof Murtagh’s family and colleagues. His life’s work has left a lasting mark on our discipline, and we give thanks for the example he has set for us all.
