Clinic Assist Software

Being a system that has been out for a long time and having a large user base, the CMS Sutra team is interested in how ClinicAssist has integrated the many SmartCMS functions within Cycle 2, being a good gauge for how a large population of how GP Clinics are working well with the new HealthierSG implementations.

Similar to many other SmartCMSes on the market, there is still no direct contact switch to NEHR and users will still have to enter through the NEHR portal. Users are mostly confident with ClinicAssist ability to help the user meet the NEHR criterias, with only 16.7% of the population rating ≥2 stars, this could be a direct result from ClinicAssist’s system prompts for diagnosis that could have been a contributing factor to many users being satisfied with how the system helps the user to prevent incomplete data to be submitted to NEHR. However, our reviewers mentioned that bugs occur from time to time where prompts are not being triggered and that user diligence is still mandatory. Our reviewers also mentioned that vaccinations were not backdated past the recent 1-2 years and that manual submission is required for previous vaccines. Health plans were also not auto populating at times and that the consistency issues could be at times confusing.

Users are also comfortable with the auto price caps updates for HealthierSG whitelisted drugs, with over 80% of respondents rating ClinicAssist ability to apply the price caps at 3-5 out of 5 stars, this is significant for HealthierSG clinics dealing with HealthierSG drug inventories as mismanaged or outdated values could cost clinics monetary losses. One of our reviewers mentioned that this leaves him a peace of mind to confidently prescribe HealthierSG whitelisted drugs without fear that the clinic will absorb losses on the medication.

While our reviewers suggest that lab reports from Innoquest, Resti and Pathlabs work well with the e-report function, our CMS User Survey has a rather even spread across all ratings from 1-5 stars, this could relate to clinical workflow differences that may see users liking or disliking the lab report functions that ClinicAssist offers. The CMS Sutra team highly suggests GP users who are unsure with the e-report functions to check in with the ClinicAssist team for better workflow management.

Respondents have also indicated that subscription fees are a little pricey as an option, with close to half of our User Survey respondents giving a ≥2 stars rating on subscription fees, this could be a room for consideration for new clinics entering the market looking for a system to adopt.

With its large user base and user-created support groups, there is always peer assistance around as well as ClinicAssist’s noticeboard feature to check for updates and fixes. Based on the User Survey,  the CMS Sutra Team has found that the ClinicAssist user base has a wide spread over whether a user needs a technical person to use the ClinicAssist system, with 31.3% rating (1-2 stars), 33% rating (3 stars) and 35.4% rating (4-5 stars). This suggests that ClinicAssist is a system that is complex enough for users who are adept in modern tech workflows while also being comfortable for less tech savvy users to come aboard and pick up the system with guidance.
