General Information Overview The aim of the Master of Medicine (FM) is to train an echelon of family physicians who will be on par with the hospital specialists and be able to take on the role of leaders, trainers, and administrators in family medicine development. The Master of Medicine (FM) was started in 1992 for doctors working in the Ministry of Health who are in a three-year vocational training programme with the objective of providing such doctors with a broad base of multidisciplinary core knowledge and practical skills. As the times goes by, the Master of Medicine (FM) evolved itself to fill the needs of doctors with different set of qualifications and needs.
Programme A is for applicants who are fully or conditionally registered with Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and are awarded sponsorship by the health clusters after choosing Family Medicine as the specialty. Programme C is tailored for non-trainee doctors who are currently working in the clusters and are keen to pursue the M.Med (FM) after having obtained their Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM).
